FAQ
Colour analysis basics
What is a colour season?
Your colour season is a palette of colours that tends to harmonise with your natural colouring — your skin, eyes, hair, contrast and overall undertone.
In seasonal colour analysis, colours are usually described through temperature, brightness, softness, lightness and depth.
What is seasonal colour analysis?
Seasonal colour analysis is a way to understand which colours naturally flatter you by looking at your undertone, contrast, depth and brightness.
It can help you choose clothes, makeup, accessories and everyday colours with more confidence.
What are the 12 colour seasons?
The 12 colour seasons are: Bright Spring, True Spring, Light Spring, Light Summer, True Summer, Soft Summer, Soft Autumn, True Autumn, Deep Autumn, Deep Winter, True Winter and Bright Winter.
Each season has its own balance of warmth or coolness, brightness or softness, and lightness or depth.
Is this a professional colour analysis?
No. Dear Sibylla palettes are practical colour references, not professional colour analysis consultations.
They are designed to help you compare colours more easily in real life — especially while shopping, choosing makeup or building outfits.
Choosing your palette
How do I know which colour season to choose?
If you already know your colour season, choose the matching seasonal palette.
If you’re still unsure, you can try using an AI tool you trust with clear daylight photos of you wearing different colours. AI can help you notice useful colour analysis clues, but it is not a professional consultation.
The Dear Sibylla colour season quiz is opening soon — leave your email and we’ll send it to you when it’s ready.
Can I use it if I don’t know my colour season yet?
Yes, but it works best once you already have an idea of your colour season.
If you are still unsure, you can compare nearby seasons, use an AI tool you trust with clear daylight photos, or join the Dear Sibylla quiz waitlist.
What if I’m between two colour seasons?
Try comparing colours in natural daylight and notice which palette feels more harmonious with your skin, eyes, hair and overall contrast.
If you are between two close seasons, pay attention to the main difference: one may be warmer, cooler, brighter, softer, lighter or deeper than the other.
Your palette should feel useful in real life — especially when shopping, choosing makeup or building outfits.
Can AI help me find my colour season?
AI can help you notice possible colour analysis clues, especially if you share clear photos taken in natural daylight while wearing different colours.
However, AI is not a professional colour analysis consultation. Use it as a starting point, not as a final diagnosis.
Using your palette
How do I use a colour analysis palette keychain?
Use it as a portable colour guide. Keep it in your bag or on your keys, then hold it near clothes, makeup or accessories when you want to compare a colour before buying.
You don’t need an exact match. Look for colours that feel close to your season in temperature, brightness, softness, lightness and depth.
Can I use it for clothes shopping?
Yes. You can use your palette while shopping for clothes, accessories or fabric colours.
Hold it near the item you’re considering and compare the overall colour direction: warm or cool, bright or soft, light or deep.
The goal is not perfection — it’s making better colour decisions before buying.
Can I use it for makeup too?
Yes. Use it as a small colour reference for lipstick, blush, eyeshadow and nail polish. It helps you spot when a shade looks too cool, too warm, too muted, too bright, too light or too deep for your season.
For lipstick, your natural lip colour can change the final result — especially if your lips are pigmented. Sometimes the right shade also needs the right opacity and finish.
Makeup texture and finish matter too, so think of it as a guide, not a strict rule.
Do store lights and mirrors really change what I see?
Yes. Store lights, fitting room mirrors and beauty counters can make colours look warmer, cooler, brighter or duller than they really are.
Your palette gives you a small, stable colour reference to compare with. When possible, natural daylight is always the best final check.
Do the colours need to match exactly?
Yes but your palette is a guide, not a rulebook.
A colour can still work for your season even if it is not identical to one of the swatches. Use the palette to understand the general direction: warm or cool, bright or soft, light or deep.
Product details
What is the keychain made of?
Dear Sibylla keychains are made from clear acrylic with a printed seasonal colour palette design.
Each palette includes 25 colour swatches designed to help you compare colours more easily when shopping, choosing makeup or building outfits.
How big is the keychain?
Each acrylic charm is approximately 6 × 6 cm, with a key ring and chain attached through the top corner.
It is designed to be small enough to carry with you, but large enough to use as a practical colour reference.
How accurate are the colours on the keychain?
The colours are designed to be practical everyday references, not laboratory-standard colour samples.
Lighting, screens, printing and materials can all affect how colours appear. Use your palette as a guide to compare colour direction, not as an exact scientific match.
Why do colours look different online and in real life?
Screens, brightness settings, camera filters and lighting can change how colours appear.
That’s why your keychain may look slightly different on screen than in person. For the clearest comparison, use it in natural daylight.
Why does my keychain have a protective film?
Acrylic items often come with a thin protective film to help protect the surface before use.
You can remove it when you decide to keep and use your keychain. If you think you may return it, please do not remove the protective film.
Why do some keychains have gold hardware and others silver?
The hardware is chosen to match the general temperature of the season.
Warmer seasons usually come with gold-toned hardware, while cooler seasons usually come with silver-toned hardware.
